Apple has started it's "Back To School" promotion here in the UK, which allows you to buy any Mac (except the Mini) and a iPod Nano or Touch and receive a £95.00 rebate which doesn't quite cover the cost of the iPod which start at £109.00.
The promotion runs till October 31st and is available to Students & Teachers.

The Video industry is planning to break Apples strangle hold on downloaded media. Sony and a group of Media heavy-weights are planning to prevent Apple getting the hold on the video download sector by developing an 'open' standard that will allow videos downloaded from any of the partners services work on a huge range of devices.
Richard Garner an analyst at Citigroup has stated that he believes Apple is already shipping the next generation Macbooks to its stores ready for their imminent release, he has cited "Field Checks" as his reasoning behind his statement.
Garner has also stated that among the new features are LED Backlighting and a very thin aluminium case. as well as a very aggressive price point for the unit.
