Apple is reportedly expanding it's Head Quarters in Cupertino, it has taken up old abandoned HP buildings in the area, and in some areas is even knocking down older structures in order to erect new ones.

The buildings that Apple has taken over from HP still have the HP logo in places, and the addresses on signs written in HP's style. But in most cases you can clearly see the over-painted Apple Logo on the majority of HP's old signage.

Because of Apple being based in Cupertino for the last three decades Steve jobs is reluctant to move out of the area, and as such this is why these old HP buildings have been acquired.

ZFS On Mac OS X: Binaries & Source Available

Binaries and source code for ZFS on Mac OS X 10.5 has been posted by Noel Dellofano who is a developer on Apples ZFS team on Mac OS Forge.

"ZFS is a new kind of filesystem that provides simple administration, transactional semantics, end-to-end data integrity, and immense scalability. ZFS is not an incremental improvement to existing technology; it is a fundamentally new approach to data management. We've blown away 20 years of obsolete assumptions, eliminated complexity at the source, and created a storage system that's actually a pleasure to use. ZFS presents a pooled storage model that completely eliminates the concept of volumes and the associated problems of partitions, provisioning, wasted bandwidth and stranded storage.

Thousands of filesystems can draw from a common storage pool, each one consuming only as much space as it actually needs. The combined I/O bandwidth of all devices in the pool is available to all filesystems at all times."

Inquisitor 3 is a free Safari plugin that allows you to search the internet in a spotlight-akin fashion, it displays results as you type them, and makes searching the net a whole load easier.

With the release of version 3 a year ago, the application became "Freeware", this isn't knews to alot of you but earlier this week TUAW's Brett Terpstra discovered that certain search terms returned some Amazon.com affiliate links, and there has since been an uproar by people in response to this.

Personally I don't see a problem with this, I use Inquisitor 3 with Safari everyday, and have only seen one affiliate link in my time using it, and in all honesty for an application as good as Inquisitor I can't complain about an affiliate link or two, as before version 3 it was a Licensable product.

New AppleTV To Temp Users Into iTunes Rentals?

Apple is said to be revamping the AppleTV to make it more of a force in the digital video sector, as it stands at the moment, the AppleTV hasn't lived up to most peoples expectations.

The biggest problem especially in market like the UK is the lack of any decent media, and the fact that any digital videos you own (Legal or otherwise) most likely will need recoding to a format that the AppleTV supports.

Apple has been rallying the troops as it were, in the form of 20th Century Fox, Disney and others, in a hope of temping users into 24hr rentals of their films, and there is a lot of speculation in regards to the iTunes store being accessible directly from the AppleTV negating the need for a Computer.
