Hitachi have created a 500GB 2.5inch HDD, making them the provider of the largest capacity 2.5inch HDD, this drive has a capacity that is 36% larger than the nearest rivals Toshiba who produce a 320GB 2.5inch HDD.
This increased capacity has not been achieved by improving the platter data density, but by actually adding another platter to the HDD, this has taken its height from 9.5mm to 12.5mm, with each platter being 167GB in size, Hitachi have been quoted as saying that this new HDD uses a more efficient motor and as such adding another physical platter will not reduce laptop battery life.
When Steve Jobs announced Apples transition to Intel's X86 processor line, a huge stir occurred among some Mac OS X users who depend on "Classic" the OS9 environment in Mac OS X for their day to day Mac usage, as Mac OS X on intel means no more "Classic" and they were right.
Rosetta allows PowerPC applications to run on X86 through JIT (Just In Time) architecture emulation, but its translation is not on a low enough level within OS X to allow "Classic" to work on X86 and as such those among us who use OS9 applications have been left out in the cold.
Craeceed unveiled Hydra a universal binary application for Mac OS X that is designed to help in the creation of High Dynamic Range Images (HDRI). And will be available from the 14th of January, the first day of Macworld.
The application aids in the creation of HDR Images through the use of multiple exposure shots with varying light levels.
Nokia would like iTunes to be part of it's Ovi Portal, Ovi is a portal for accessing websites, content and services.
Nokia was originally derided for it's use of Windows Media formats, but it appears Nokia was listening and has offered an Olive branch to Apple by asking Steve Jobs to a meeting.
Obvious problems become apparant, namely DRM, Nokia phones would therefore have to be compatible with FairPlay DRM, which we doubt Apple would allow as it would damage iPhone sales.
