Panasonic have produced a Blu-Ray Burner that is only 9.5mm thick, that is small enough to fit inside present Macbook Pro Drive enclosures. The drives are capable of; BD-R, DB-RE at 2x, and Dual Layer Blu-Ray at 1x, and is also capable of burning CD's and DVD's (-R, -RW, +R, +RW, etc).
But don't get your hopes up of a MBP with a Blu-Ray drive just yet as the Mac Pro's don't have them, and they will cost a large amount initially but can't see it being too long before Blu-Ray wanders into a Mac somewhere along the line with Apple being a member of the Blu-Ray Committee.

This update is expected to co-inside with the up and coming Macworld Expo in January.
