Apple Developing It's Own ARM CPUs for iPhone PDF Print E-mail

The NY Times "Bits" Blog has posted about P.A. Semi's Wei-han Lien posting on his LinkedIn profile the following:

This post on Lien's LinkedIn profile has confirmed what many thought when Apple acquired P.A. Semi earlier this year, P.A. Semi had acquired some of the best minds in processor design before Apples purchase of the firm, and Apple has stated it purchased the firm for the abilities of the various design experts at P.A. Semi.

Lien's post indicates that Apple will design it's own CPUs for its iPods and iPhones in future which could mean slashing production costs as they could integrate other chipsets directly into the CPU as many other ARM based CPUs already do.
